Lillian Brown is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theatre at Ripon College, where she oversees the acting and directing curriculum. With a diverse background in acting, movement, and voicework, Lillian brings a well-rounded approach to her teaching and artistic practice. In 2021, she had the privilege of studying SITI Company, where she trained in Suzuki and Viewpoints techniques. Lillian is also an intimacy director and an Assisting Faculty with Theatrical Intimacy Educators (TIE). Her professional focus is on guiding emerging artists to cultivate authentic presence, self-awareness, and a collaborative spirit.

In the classroom, Lillian works with her students to expand their capacity for expressive storytelling and characterization. Her pedagogy includes a study of Stanislavski, Linklater, Laban, Viewpoints, and Suzuki methods. She also integrates consent-forward practices, providing students with the tools to navigate sensitive scenes with confidence and care.
Beyond her work as an educator, Lillian is also a freelance actor and solo performing artist. Her solo show, The Oreo Complex, has received a Helen Hayes recommendation, along with many other positive reviews. This multi-disciplinary art experience explores the politics of racial performance and the complexities of Black identity.

Lillian’s work is deeply rooted in her passion for creative expression and fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where artists can explore and grow. She strives to blend artistry and ethics in everything she does, creating spaces that encourage dialogue, discovery, and respect.
